||Mon`o*trem"a*ta (?), n. pl. [NL., fr.
Gr. mo`nos single + &?; hole.] (Zoöl.) A
subclass of Mammalia, having a cloaca in which the ducts of the
urinary, genital, and alimentary systems terminate, as in birds. The
female lays eggs like a bird. See Duck mole, under
Duck, and Echidna.

(Zoöl.) Of or pertaining to the
Monotremata.


Mon"o*treme (?), n. [Cf. F.
monotrème.] (Zoöl.) One of the
Monotremata.


Mon`o*tri"glyph (?), n. [Mono- +
triglyph: cf. F. monotriglyphe.] (Arch.) A
kind of intercolumniation in an entablature, in which only one
triglyph and two metopes are introduced.


||Mo*not"ro*pa (?), n. [NL., fr. Gr.
mo`nos single + &?; turn, from &?; to turn.] (Bot.)
A genus of parasitic or saprophytic plants including the Indian
pipe and pine sap. The name alludes to the dropping end of the
stem.
