mômier, fr. OF. momer, mommer, to mumm, to
mask one's self.] A name given in contempt to strict Calvinists
in Switzerland, France, and some parts of Germany, in the early part
of the 19th century.

||Mo"mus (?), n. [Gr. &?; blame,
ridicule, Momus.] (Gr. Myth.) The god of mockery and
censure.

Mon- (?). Same as Mono-.

||Mo"na (?), n. [CF. Sp. & Pg.
mona, fem. of mono a monkey, ape.] (Zoöl.)
A small, handsome, long-tailed West American monkey
(Cercopithecus mona). The body is dark olive, with a spot of
white on the haunches.
